Your enquiry, treated with care.
This notice explains how J Perry & Sons Ltd uses personal information when you visit this website or ask about gutter work.
Last updated: 24 October 2026.
Who is responsible?
J Perry & Sons Ltd is the controller of information supplied to the business. Contact jperryandsons@outlook.com or 0117 251 0551. Our registered office and correspondence address is 21b Somerset Square, Nailsea, Bristol, England, BS48 1RQ; this is not a customer visiting address.
What information is used?
When you contact us, this may include your name, telephone number, email address, postcode, service address, job description, relevant photographs and records of quotes, bookings, work and payments. A gutter quote request also includes your selected services, property type, bedroom count, gutter height, selected gutter stretches, additional buildings and their quantities, access information, gutter condition and any leaks, blockages, pigeon droppings or repair concerns.
When you request an estimate using “Show my price”, we normally keep a short-lived record of your fixed service and property choices, price breakdown, pricing version and an estimate reference. This checks the price and choices while you complete the request. It becomes due for deletion after two hours, with cleanup on later recording requests. If recording is unavailable, your estimate can still be shown without a saved record. We do not save your name, email, telephone number, address or free-text notes from an unfinished form.
When you submit the form, the website validates your contact details, address and job information and passes them to our email service. It does not save a full enquiry copy, your name, email address, telephone number, postcode, property address or free-text notes in the website database. The short-lived estimate record can record submission and email-sending outcomes. If statistics are enabled, it contributes to grouped daily pricing and conversion counts, as described below. Neither the short-lived record nor those daily counts contain customer contact details, email-provider message identifiers or free-text enquiry contents.
The form sends your contact details, full property address, description and quote selections through Resend to our business Outlook mailbox. Resend processes message content and delivery information to provide its email service. After the enquiry is accepted for delivery to our business, we also send an acknowledgement to the email address you supply. This uses the first part of the name you enter and includes requested services, property type, bedroom count and gutter height, along with next-step information and our contact details. It omits the remaining name text and does not repeat your property address, postcode, email address, telephone number, free-text notes, job description or price. Please check your email address carefully, as it is not independently verified; a mistyped address could disclose those limited acknowledgement details to its recipient. Acceptance by the email service does not confirm delivery to an inbox.
Sending your enquiry
The form tells you whether the email service has accepted the enquiry for sending. After a successful submission, it clears your personal fields and notes from the form and shows a generic confirmation. If a form field needs correcting, you can amend it and submit again. If sending fails, the details remain in the open page so that you can retry or contact us by telephone or email. If the result is uncertain, the message asks you to contact us before trying again, to avoid sending a duplicate. Closing or refreshing the page may lose the unfinished form; we cannot recover it from a saved website enquiry.
Sending statuses describe the email service’s response, not delivery to an inbox or junk folder. We no longer run the previous hourly ChatGPT enquiry-failure monitor or create new customer-linked alerts through it. An enquiry accepted for sending to the business remains a successful submission even if its separate customer acknowledgement cannot be sent.
If you choose to prepare an email in your own email app, the website opens a draft containing your request details. You review and send it yourself; that message is handled by your email provider and our Outlook mailbox. Preparing the draft does not send your request. The quote builder keeps your choices in the open page and does not store your contact or property details in browser cookies or local storage.
To limit spam, the website stores submission counters and a daily changing, keyed hash derived from the connection IP address. Acknowledgement limits also use a daily changing, keyed hash of the recipient email address. These records contain no names, raw email addresses, property addresses or job descriptions. They expire after up to two days and are removed during subsequent submission requests. The hosting service may process technical information such as an IP address, requested pages, browser information and security logs to deliver and protect the site.
Why information is needed
We use requested estimates and enquiry details to assess the job, preserve the price shown while you complete the request, respond and prepare a quote. When you ask us to do this, our legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract. We use information to arrange and carry out agreed work and manage related communications on the basis of performing that contract.
We keep records needed for accounting, tax and other legal requirements on the basis of meeting legal obligations. Protecting the website from spam, keeping the business secure and dealing with necessary follow-up or disputes are our legitimate interests. We consider your interests and rights when relying on that basis.
You choose whether to make an enquiry. The form marks the details required to submit it; these help us identify the property, understand the work and reply. You can also contact us by telephone or email. Sending an enquiry does not confirm a booking or give permission for unrelated marketing. Personal information is not sold.
The quote builder calculates an indicative estimate from your selections before you enter contact details. We review your request and discuss suitability, availability and the final scope and price. The website does not automatically decide whether we will take on your job. Automated spam checks do not decide your booking.
Website statistics
We use daily totals of page views and clicks on service, quote, telephone, email and WhatsApp links to understand and improve this website. The totals identify the page and kind of link, not a visitor. They do not contain contact details, free-text form entries, search queries, referring URLs or a history of a person’s browsing. We do not add advertising analytics or create visitor identifiers for these statistics.
We also use grouped daily pricing and conversion statistics. Estimates with the same fixed property and service choices, price breakdown and pricing version are counted together for that day, with separate counts for estimates generated, enquiries submitted and email-sending outcomes. Quote-builder and contact-form counts are distinguished. The long-term groups have no individual estimate reference, form-verification value, exact submission time, contact details, address, postcode or free-text notes. We do not build visitor profiles, add an analytics reference to enquiry emails or use these counts for advertising attribution. A rare combination can still allow an inference when compared with other information, so grouping does not make every configuration necessarily anonymous.
A page view is not a count of unique people, and a telephone, email or WhatsApp click does not prove that a call or message took place. Counts can also be affected by browser settings and connection failures. An estimate is not a booking, an accepted enquiry is not a confirmed customer, and estimated values are not revenue.
We use website statistics for our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website and its pricing. You can turn them off, free of charge, using the statistics control on our Cookie Information page. That page also explains how your choice is remembered. The choice covers optional page and link totals and long-term grouped pricing and conversion statistics. Turning statistics off stops new statistical contributions and removes contributions associated with a still-open estimate record when the website receives that choice. It does not retrospectively identify contributions in older groups after the short-lived record has expired. It does not stop us processing an estimate or enquiry you ask us for; a short-lived estimate record may still be used to check the price and choices on your open form.
Optional advertising measurement
If you accept optional cookies, we use Google Ads to measure which advertising leads to an enquiry accepted for sending to our business. We rely on your consent for this measurement and its advertising cookies or browser storage. No Google advertising tag loads or sends measurements until you accept. This choice is separate from the website statistics above; rejecting it does not affect estimates or enquiries.
After acceptance, Google receives technical information such as your IP address and browser information, page and advertising-click information, and an opaque reference that prevents the same successful enquiry being counted twice. We do not send your name, email address, telephone number, property address, free-text notes or estimate price as conversion data. This setup does not use enhanced conversions or remarketing. Acceptance for sending is measured, not delivery to an inbox, an agreed booking or revenue.
You can withdraw consent at any time through “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. Withdrawing after accepting reloads the page to stop the advertising tag, so send or copy an unfinished enquiry first. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already took place with consent. Your separate advertising preference is remembered in this browser for up to 180 days. See the cookie information for the storage used and Google’s privacy policy for its processing, retention and international-transfer information.
Photographs
Any property photographs you supply are used to assess and respond to your enquiry. Photos sent for a quote are not treated as permission to publish them; any use as a public work example requires separate permission.
Service providers and overseas processing
Information may be processed by providers used for email, telephone, website hosting, business records and payments, and by professional advisers where necessary. The published contact mailbox uses Microsoft Outlook; this site is hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, and contact-form delivery uses Resend. If you consent to optional advertising measurement, Google also processes the information described above. Information is shared only where needed for the relevant purpose or required by law.
Website hosting is covered by OpenAI’s published Sites Data Processing Addendum, including its UK transfer provisions. Any earlier ChatGPT monitoring history is separate from the hosted website database and is subject to the terms and controls applicable to our ChatGPT account. OpenAI may process information outside the UK; its privacy policy explains its international processing and safeguards. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your record.
Resend stores message content and delivery records in the United States. Choosing a European sending region changes where messages are sent from, not where Resend stores them. Its published Data Processing Addendum includes Standard Contractual Clauses with a UK Addendum for UK transfers. You can read that agreement for a copy of those safeguards or contact us for further transfer information.
Resend uses subprocessors for delivery, storage and security. It states that a small sample of emails is processed for trust and safety on RunPod infrastructure operated by Resend. Normal API sending is not sent to Anthropic, and Resend states that neither it nor these AI subprocessors use customer content to train or fine-tune models. See its data protection information.
Our hosting and mailbox providers may also process information outside the UK. Contact us if you would like more information about the providers and transfer arrangements relevant to your enquiry.
How long information is kept
Short-lived estimate records, including their individual references and form-verification values, become due for deletion after two hours whether statistics are on or off. Grouped daily pricing and conversion statistics become due for deletion after 365 days. Aggregate page and link totals become due for deletion after 730 days. Removal runs in small batches during later recording requests, so expired records may remain until a subsequent cleanup runs. These periods apply to the website database; copies needed for an agreed job, accounting or a dispute are managed separately.
Earlier full enquiry copies and their separate delivery-monitoring records have been removed from the active website database. This does not automatically erase earlier provider backups, emails, ChatGPT checks or alerts. Existing provider copies remain subject to the relevant retention and deletion arrangements. Our policy is to review earlier monitoring history monthly and remove resolved monitoring references and alerts when no longer needed, normally within 30 days of resolution. Unresolved issues are reviewed for necessary follow-up. ChatGPT history remains until it is deleted using the account’s available controls; this is a separate review and deletion process, not an automatic website expiry. OpenAI’s ChatGPT retention information explains provider deletion times and exceptions.
Resend states that email content and delivery logs are retained for 30 days on its Free plan, with backups retained for seven days. The copy delivered to our Outlook mailbox is managed separately by the business. We review enquiry information and keep it for as long as needed to respond and manage relevant follow-up. Where work proceeds, we keep necessary records for accounting, contractual and legal obligations, taking account of applicable limitation periods. We remove unnecessary copies and unrelated photographs when they are no longer needed for those purposes. You can ask about the retention of your particular record.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access, correction, deletion or restriction of your information, or for a portable copy. Contact us using the details above. Where relevant, we handle requests across the website records, any earlier monitoring references and ChatGPT history, our mailbox and other service-provider copies. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We explain any information that must be retained for a legal obligation or other applicable exception.
Your right to object
You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Contact us and explain your circumstances; we will consider your request under data protection law.
Data protection complaints
If you are concerned about how we use your personal information, you can complain to J Perry & Sons Ltd by email, telephone or post using the details above. You do not need to use a special form. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, investigate without undue delay, keep you informed and explain the outcome.
You may also complain to the Information Commission’s Office (ICO).
